Bridge Design & Analysis Software

Intuitive Modeling

Unique Works Tree Menu

Cable Stayed Bridge Wizard

Cable stayed bridge wizard permits generating accurate models and performing analyses of many design alternatives in a short time. Initial cable forces are calculated through Optimization for initial equilibrium state analysis.

It also provides the Construction stage function, which enables us to reflect Creation/Deletion of elements, change in boundary conditions and loading changes that may occur in various stages of construction. The flexibility of midas Civil also allows us to make modifications of the model/construction stage after generating the model by using the bridge wizard function.

Section Property Calculator

Composite / Tapered Section

PSC Section

User can import any DXF section drawing created in CAD. Any complex and unusual bridge sections can be modeled and analyzed. A composite section with different materials can equally be modeled Accurate analysis result can be obtained by calculating the exact torsional stiffness.

Import Section

midas Civil has built-in Section Property Calculator, which permits users to draw sections of arbitrary shapes and calculate the section properties of unconventional section shapes.

Section Property Calculator

The member force before and after composite effect can be easily computed for the Composite Girder Bridge The grillage model of the Composite Girder Bridge can be analyze considering the construction stage before and after composite effect. The stiffness for tapered Arch Rib and Segmental Girder can be calculated more accurately.

Composite / Tapered Section

midas Civil provides material and section databases according to ASTM, AISC, CISC, CSA, BS, DIN, EN, UNI, IS, JIS, GB, etc. User-defined materials and sections can also be defined in midas Civil. A total of 37 different section shapes including steel-reinforced concrete composite section shapes can be applied to line elements. Additionally, midas Civil includes a Section Property Calculator, which is used to calculate the section properties of unconventional section shapes.

Mass Data

Dynamic Load

Static Load

Nodal Masses
Lumped translational mass and rotational mass moment of inertia are specified at a particular node.

Loads to Masses
Vertical components (loads acting in the Z-direction of the GCS) of the entered loads are converted into masses, which are considered as concentrated mass data.

Consistent Mass
midas Civil converts consistent mass into distributed masses. Consistent mass is calculated using the shape function to derive the stiffness matrix. Off-diagonal mass terms are considered and, unlike the lumped mass, the inertia coupling effect is considered. Therefore, results using consistent mass is more accurate than the lumped mass, however the numerical computation takes more time to complete.

Self-weight to Mass
The masses of the elements included in the model can be automatically converted into lumped masses or consistent masses in midas Civil for dynamic analysis or computation of statically equivalent seismic loads.

Mass Data

midas Civil performs time history analysis where time history loads or sinusoidal loads can be applied to nodes. For response spectrum analysis, select a response spectrum from the seismic database in accordance with a governing standard. The built-in design spectrums based on international codes are as follows:IBC2000, UBC, NBC, Eurocode-8, China, IS1893, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea.

Dynamic Load

midas Civil provides complete load types. Static load can be assigned as self weight, nodal load, beam load, floor load, plane load, prestress load, temperature load, pressure load, etc.
